The Man Behind the Mission

Biography

The Life of Dr. Mahabir Pun

Born in Nangi Village, Myagdi, in a remote Himalayan community, Dr. Mahabir Pun spent his early childhood grazing cattle and sheep. He rose from a background with no electricity or roads to become a globally recognized scientist and reformer.

After completing his education abroad, he returned to Nepal not for personal gain, but to give back to the villages that shaped him. He launched the Nepal Wireless Project to bring connectivity to the most isolated corners of the Himalayas and later founded the National Innovation Centre to cultivate the next generation of Nepali innovators.

In 2026, Dr. Pun made the transition from activist to policymaker, winning a seat in Parliament as an Independent representing Myagdi-1 β€” bringing the same mission-first, no-compromise approach to the halls of governance.
